Health and Safety at Farnborough Rugby Club

The primary objective of playing rugby is to have fun, to ensure this players must be warm, trained in a safe environment and properly kitted out (see the shop section of the site). All the primary coaches are RFU qualified and we always have a number of first-aiders attending training sessions and matches..
Set out below are some key points regarding safety for training and matches:

Gumshields / Mouthguards

Farnborough RFC Minis and Juniors encourage ALL players to wear properly fitted mouthguards/gumshields for training and matches. This is imperative once age groups start playing or being trained in Contact rugby. A dental fitting service is available by Opro at the beginning of every season. Opro mouthguards can also be ordered from their website http://www.opro.com

Boots and Studs

Studs/cleats of player’s boots must conform with IRB Specifications (Regulation 12), must not be longer than 21 mm, and must not have any burring or sharp edges."

Severe Weather

In case of cold weather we recommend that warm clothing is worn, this may be taken off for matches.

Tetanus Injection

We recommend that al rugby players should have a tetanus injection.

Injuries

We all hope that no player gets hurt, however rugby is a contact sport and occasionally injuries may happen. If an injury occurs first aid will be administered at the site (by a qualified first aider) and parents or guardians will be notified of what happened and in the first-aiders' opinion what should be done.

If it is the opinion of the first aid provider that a child needs hospital treatment, appropriate arrangements will be made. If a parent or guardian is not available, the Club will ensure the child is accompanied by an appropriate adult and parents or guardians notified as soon as possible.

PLEASE KEEP THE EMERGENCY ACCESS CLEAR AT THE SIDE OF THE CLUB HOUSE

Medical or Other Conditions

Please notify coaches of any condition, e.g. asthma, diabetes, attention deficit disorder, epilepsy, that could affect a player during a session. All information will be kept in confidence.

Responsibilities

Coaches and assistants cannot act stand as parents and cannot take legal responsibility for players. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch thier budding Jono's, however if a child is left then please notify the coaches of how you can be contacted in case of emergency.
